Sunday Morning on the Cami de Vilanova a Sitges
An unhurried coastal walk, from quiet coves to coffee in Sitges
There’s a certain calm that only a Sunday morning can bring. I set out around 9 a.m., the light still soft and golden, the air cool enough to remind me that autumn has finally arrived. This is, without a doubt, the perfect time of year for hiking along the coast—before the heat settles in but with just enough warmth to make the sea sparkle invitingly beside the trail.
The Camí de Vilanova a Sitges is one of those routes that never gets old. It winds gently along the Mediterranean, tracing cliffs, coves, and hidden beaches that feel a world away from the nearby towns. The sea was calm that morning, a shimmering sheet of blue stretching endlessly toward the horizon.
I took my time, stopping often—sometimes for the view, just to listen. The waves rolled lazily against the rocks, and now and then a seagull would glide by, silent but watchful. I wandered down to a few of the smaller beaches along the way, where the sand was cool and empty, the perfect place to pause and breathe.
There’s something special about this stretch of coastline—it feels both wild and welcoming. The cliffs are rugged, the path sometimes narrow, but the reward is always the same: that endless blue and the sense that you’re walking somewhere both ancient and alive.
By the time I reached Sitges, just before 11 a.m., the town was beginning to wake up. I found a quiet café near the promenade, ordered a coffee, and watched as locals and early visitors drifted by. There’s no better way to finish a morning hike than that first sip of coffee, earned step by step along the sea.
It’s a route I’ve done before and will do again—each time a little different, depending on the light, the weather, and my own pace. But on this Sunday morning, it was perfect: calm, clear, and unhurried. Just the sea, the trail, and the slow rhythm of the day beginning.
