Exploring the Historic Castelldefels Castle
The historic fortress, dating back to the 10th century
This afternoon, I had the chance to explore the incredible Castelldefels Castle, perched majestically on a hilltop near Barcelona. This historic fortress, dating back to the 10th century, was originally built to defend the Carolingian Empire against neighboring Muslim territories.
The castle, with its fortified walls, ancient church, and even traces of Roman and Laietani settlements, tells stories of battles, faith, and a rich, complex history. As I wandered through the grounds, I could almost feel the weight of the centuries that have passed through its walls, from its 16th-century expansion to its darker days during the Spanish Civil War.
I'll be sharing a full video of my visit next Sunday on YouTube, but in the meantime, I wanted to give you a sneak peek with a few photos. Stay tuned for more!
