WordPress Drops Twitter Support Finally

W

WordPress is removing Twitter integration from its popular JetPack social sharing plugin due to Twitter’s new API subscription plans, which start at $42,000 per month, announced earlier this year.

This affects the ability to auto-share content to Twitter, but other platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tumblr will still be supported. Other major companies such as Microsoft, Xbox, and Intercom have also dropped Twitter. WordPress is the most popular content management system on the internet, and JetPack is a popular free plugin with millions of active installations.

Twitter’s API changes have caused confusion and disruption for developers and public services alike. So I have moved to Mastodon completely and apparently JetPack is working on replacing Twitter with Mastodon in the future. I think Twitter is really useless now.
