Meta, a parent company of Facebook, is developing a text-based social network app to rival both Twitter and its decentralized competitor, Mastodon. The app will be standalone and allow users to login with Instagram credentials.
It will be based on the decentralized social networking protocol ActivityPub, and is likely in response to Twitter’s recent technical issues and dwindling viewership. The app is codenamed P92 and is in its early stages of development.
What horrible and funny idea. I mean what’s the point. Meta does not invent anything new, instead just copying products and later shuts them down because nobody is using them… just like Facebook.
